Do you collect any personal data from chatbot visitors?

No. Chatbot visitor conversations are anonymous. We do not collect, store, or sell any personal or personally identifiable information (PII) from parents, students, or community members who use the chatbot. Your data is yours.

Is AskK12 WCAG/ADA compliant?

Yes. AskK12 follows current Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and ADA standards, including compatibility with screen readers.

Is it secure to add to our website?

Yes. AskK12 runs on our own servers — there is no integration with your district's internal systems or servers. The chatbot is added to your site using a short embed script and requires no IT access to your backend.

What languages does AskK12 support?

AskK12 can converse in 30+ languages — including Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, French, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, Urdu, Hindi, Vietnamese, Korean, Polish, Russian, Somali, and more — automatically detecting and responding in the visitor's language.

How is AskK12 different from our website's search bar?

Website search returns a list of links based on keywords — the visitor still has to dig through pages to find an answer. AskK12 reads the question conversationally, searches your site automatically, and responds with a direct answer and source. We always recommend keeping your search bar alongside the chatbot.

Who controls what the chatbot says?

You do. District administrators can author curated Q&A pairs that the AI prioritizes — so critical topics like enrollment, transportation, and emergencies are always answered correctly. The AI also draws from your actual website content, which you already control.

What if the chatbot doesn't know the answer?

If AskK12 can't find a reliable answer in your district's content, it says so honestly and encourages the visitor to contact the district directly. It never fabricates information.

How quickly can we get set up?

Most districts are live within a week. We handle onboarding, initial website crawl, and embed code delivery. No IT project required.

Can we customize the look and feel?

Yes. Colors, the chatbot name, welcome message, and widget position are all configurable to match your district's branding.

How is the chatbot's content kept up to date?

AskK12 automatically re-crawls your district website on a regular schedule so answers stay current. You can also trigger a manual crawl at any time from the admin dashboard.
